This <a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/search/label/Houses" target="_blank">amazing home</a> is built in the Hague, Netherlands.<br /><div><a name="more"></a></div><br /><b>Home is where the art is</b><br /><b><br /></b><b>Capturing the character of Dalí, Jugendstil forms, Spanish facades and nautical life in one villa.</b><br /><br />"The 'Villa Dalí' clients asked for a very personal house which would reflect their passions. They are nautical minded and have a love of art, sculptures and especially the work of Salvador Dalí. During the initial design discussions 123DV architecture were also showed pictures of ancient Spanish <a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">architecture</a>. They were fascinated by the closed white stucco facades and metal fences in Jugendstil design. So the challenge was to combine in one villa the beautiful Jugendstil forms, the closed facades, the treasures of the diving world and the unique works of the artist Dalí.<br /><br />For the design of the house 123DV made use of the Paranoiac-critical method by Salvador Dalí (creating optical illusions). The result is a cylindrical white stucco main building with a nautilus spiral structure inside; representing the world of diving. The closed facade facing the street represents the so called Spanish <a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">architecture</a> with a blown up 'Jugendstil' pattern in the six meter wooden panel as the entrance. In the centre of the house there is a double story cylindrical space. The furniture has also been custom designed. It's a private residence, modern minimalist villa for a four-member family, designed by <a href="http://lionglie.com/english" target="_blank">Liong Lie Architects</a>, built in the March of 2011. It is located on a large parcel of land by a forest in the eastern part of the Netherlands, connecting nature and ar<a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">chitecture</a> in calm and peaceful way.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br />"The driveway on the entrance side leads to a carport situated below the house. This places the cars out of sight and gives the impression of the house partially hovering. It is a simple architectural approach with a great visual effect. The house looks sleek and abstract on the outside, but has a warm and cozy interior.<br /><br />The ground floor and principal living area of the two-storey residence is divided into two. On one side are the master bedroom and two kids’ bedrooms plus two small studios. The other half of the floor plan is taken up by an open-concept living area that includes the kitchen, dining and living spaces. The furniture in the living room is all custom designed. The kitchen, storage space, fireplace, piano and audio equipment form an integral part of the wall unit.<br /><br />The living area of this bungalow with woodland is orientated towards the south. The curved glass wall enclosing the living area towards the spacious terrace is designed to visually minimize the boundary between inside and outside. Those impressive<a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/search/label/Interior%20Design" target="_blank"> interiors</a> are designed by the Bulgaria-based <a href="http://www.studiomode.eu/index.html" target="_blank">MODE Design Studio</a>.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br />It's widely known that wood is warm and welcoming material, therefore, perfect for public places like this, where owners want their customers to return. Interesting fact is that Mercury City Tower was actually taller <a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/search/label/High-Rise" target="_blank">skyscraper</a> than Shard at the time of announcement of new Europe's tallest located in London. Now that Moscow's tallest topped out, it's official and the tittle goes to Russia.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><a href="http://en.mercury-city.com/mercury/" target="_blank">Mercury City Tower</a> is 339m (1,112ft) tall with 75 floors while <a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/2012/06/shard-by-renzo-piano.html" target="_blank">the Shard</a> is 309m (1,014ft) tall with 73 floors. Design work is done by the <a href="http://www.fw-p.com/default.aspx" target="_blank">Frank Williams and partners</a> with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Mikhailovich_Posokhin" target="_blank">M.M. Posokhin</a> and G.L. Sirota. New <a href="http://architecturaldrawing.blogspot.com/search/label/High-Rise" target="_blank">skyscraper</a> will be brand new headquarters for Mercury Development Company.<br /><br />"Moscow is going through an architectural renaissance. The current transformation has to be credited to the city's Mayer, Yuri Luzhkov, who has a vast knowledge of international architecture as well as a great vision and love for the city of Moscow. The city has a "built architectural form" that is rich in complexity and scale. As a result the design of Mercury City Tower ties into the city's fabric and has a strong reference to Russian Constructivism. This Constructivism gives the tower a strong vertical thrust similar to the one found in New York's Chrysler Building. The comparative height to the top of the spire of Mercury City Tower is 200 feet higher than the famed Chrysler landmark.<br /><br />The new tower is sheathed in a light, warm silver glass that will act as a background for Moscow's new City Hall, which has a rich red glass roofscape. This new City Hall sits adjacent to Mercury City Tower.<br /><br /><br />Frank Williams has opened an architectural office in Moscow with the renowned Moscow Architect Michael Posokhin. "Though blessed with an abundance of natural energy resources, it is important to conserve energy in a country like Russia," he says. Mercury City Tower is the first structure in Moscow to be recognized as a "green building," which means that is meets rigorous international standards.<br /><br />"I'm always trying to look for the special, unique feeling of each site, and incorporate it in my design," he says.
